The Person Behind the Academy

MEET ELOISE HONEY

Eloise Honey with her dog

Eloise's career in dog training has always been driven by a desire to understand what's happening beneath the behavior.

Why can a dog know exactly what's being asked of them and still struggle when it matters? Why do we spend so much time managing dogs and telling them what to do, but so little time teaching them how to navigate the world more successfully on their own?

Those questions became the foundation of her approach.

Over 17+ years, that pursuit of understanding has taken Eloise from rescue and shelter dogs to family pets and serious behavioral rehabilitation, into service dogs, detection, high-profile private protection and Police K9 work — and eventually into teaching other professional trainers.

That breadth of experience shaped a philosophy that goes far beyond obedience. Eloise doesn't simply want to stop a reaction or teach a dog what to do when prompted. She wants to understand why the behavior is happening, develop the skills missing underneath it, and help create a dog capable of making better choices without needing to be constantly managed.

Because the true measure of training isn't how impressive a dog looks for fifteen minutes with a trainer. It's what happens during the other 23 hours and 45 minutes — on the walk, when the doorbell rings, when another dog appears, when guests come over, and in all the unpredictable moments that make up real life.

That's also why Eloise deliberately keeps her caseload limited. Quality and results come before volume. There are no cookie-cutter programs, no unrealistic routines designed around a trainer's lifestyle rather than yours, and no handing your dog off to someone without the experience relevant to the reason you came. When you choose to work with Eloise, you work with Eloise.

You shouldn't have to organize your entire life around your dog's behavior. Walks shouldn't be something you dread, visitors shouldn't create anxiety, and taking your dog into the world shouldn't feel impossible. Whether you're struggling with complex behavior or simply want more from life with your dog, Eloise's goal is to help you move beyond constantly managing them — giving you the confidence to enjoy more freedom, more experiences, and more of the life you imagined sharing together.
